‘Mongolist of 2017’ award goes to Russian scholar Anna Tsendina

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On December 28, President Kh.Battulga received and congratulated Mongolist Anna Tsendina, who has been named the Mongolist of the Year by the International Association for Mongol Studies (IAMS).

The Russian Mongolist became the first scholar to receive the Mongolist of the Year award, which has been initiated by the IAMS.

The Mongolist of the Year award will be conferred upon one Mongolist every year in recognition of his or her contribution to the development of Mongolian studies and promotion of the culture and history of Mongolia through their studies.

Anna Tsendina is the daughter of Ts.Damdinsuren, renowned Mongolian scholar, People’s Writer and State Prize Laureate. She is currently teaching at the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, Russian National Research University Higher School of Economics.

In 2017, Anna Tsendina published an introduction to the Yellow History of the Ancient Mongolian Khaans, one of the five historic records about the 17th century Mongolia, along with the original text, a 9-volume compilation of the academic works of Ts.Damdinsuren, and letters of Mongolist Boris Vladimirtsov on Mongolian studies for the first time. She continues to teach Mongolian language, literature and history to young Russian Mongolists today.
