Mongolia to learn from Australian experience of responsible mining

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat exchanged views on responsible mining and other development issues with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Mongolia John Langtry, when they met on January 05. 

In the beginning of the meeting, N.Tserenbat expressed Mongolia’s interest in closely cooperate with Australia in mining sector and importance of  Australian experience in developing accountable mining in Mongolia. .
 
“The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has almost completed a census on deteriorated land due to irresponsible mining. We hope that Australia will share their experience of rehabilitating deteriorated land due to mining. Our Ministry will closely cooperate with the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry for rehabilitation. Moreover, we wantsto develop tourism sector, learning  from Australian experience and introducing practices of conserving environment of Specially Protected Areas and developing National Parks and making urban areas green in compliance with international standards,” Minister N.Tserenbat said.
 
In response, Ambassador John Langtry expressed Australia’s readiness to cooperate with the Government of Mongolia. He also highlighted significant roles of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism in developing responsible mining, tourism sector and introducing national park standard.
