Projects worth MNT545 billion under implementation in health sector

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On March 2, the Council for coordinating foreign loans and assistance in health sector called a meeting.  During the meeting, Health Minister D.Sarangerel informed that 20 projects worth over MNT545 billion, funded with soft loans and non-refundable aids of international organizations and foreign countries, are under implementation in Mongolia’s health sector.

D.Sarangerel, however, criticized that some big projects and programs have not brought sufficient result. For instance ‘E-health’ project, commenced n 2012, did not make any progress in recent 2-3 years.

In addition, the council members discussed about air pollution of Ulaanbaatar city. According to the National Center for Public Health, cases of respiratory system illness increased by two-fold in 2016.

Within the projects implemented with foreign loans and assistance, 40 thousand children got vaccinated with pneumococcal vaccine. The Ministry of Health plans to involve all children who are required to be get vaccinated with this kind of vaccine in 2019.
