Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A personal exhibition of Buryat gunsmith master, sculptor Jigjit Bayashalanov ‘Through the force of nature’ opened at the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum on March 15. His exhibition features author's art weapons, paper knife compositions and traditional Buryat and Mongolian knives.
A hereditary gunsmith Jigjit Bayashalanov has been creating exclusive author’s knives since 2000. His knives and other works made from various materials including Damascus steel, walrus tusk, batoid skin, silver, garnets, chrysoprase, diamonds and sapphires are displayed at the exhibition.
In addition to knives, the bronze sculptures on which the master worked for the last three years are exhibited. “I tried to show the animals in the moment of instance. For example, the sculpture called ‘By the water’ depicts a calm horse drinking water with her eyes closed,” he noted.
This is his second solo exhibition, which has been successfully held in the beginning of this year in Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude. Jigjit Bayashalanov is glad for the exhibition running in Mongolia and calls our country a historical homeland.

In addition, Jigjit Bayashalanov became one of the few authors whose works were exhibited during his lifetime in the State Hermitage Museum. Two of his Buryat knives ‘Limpidity’ and ‘Fire and Water’ are kept in the Hermitage Museum since 2016.
The exhibition will run until April 25.
