Innovation and Cooperation center of Francophone opens in NUM

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/  A Center for Innovation and Cooperation of Francophone countries opened at the Library of the National University of Mongolia (NUM) on June 8.

There are over 350 million French speakers around the world. Moreover, French is one of official languages of the international organisations such as the United Nations, the UNESCO and the International Olympic Committee. The NUM has prepared over 500 professionals of French language since it included French program in its curriculum in 1963.

Director of Innovation and Cooperation Center of Francophone  B.Altangul said that Innovation and Cooperation Center of Francophone is significant to develop multilateral cooperation such as exchanging methodology and experiences of developed countries, implementing joint master and doctoral programs, support French-speaking professionals, teachers and students to study and work in all fields of major, acquire a right of international online library as well as to support SMEs, entrepreneurs and innovations.

The Center will operate in direction of providing information to Mongolian students majoring in French, giving them advice and chance to improve their French proficiency.  It is expected that the new center will contribute to the implementation of objectives of 2024 NUM strategic plan such as building capacity of teachers, implementing joint projects and creating culture of innovation.

In addition, a NUM project themed ‘Current state of Tourism sector in Mongolia’ has been selected and summer school will run for the second time in August, 2018.  In 2016, they organized ‘Mongolian heritage and culture’ summer school for French-speaking students for the first time.
