Amendments to Communications Law discussed
Politics
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Law on Communications of Mongolia was adopted in 1995 and has been amended eight times. However, the existing law can no longer foster development of communications market and promotion of fair competition, and distribution of quality products and services of telecommunications to citizens and legal entities.
Hence, a Bill to amend the Law includes a number of regulations such as clarifying the duties of the Communications Regulatory Commission of Mongolia, increasing its role in tariff regulation of market competition, determining the sector’s monopolist, prohibiting any activity that is contrary to the competition, and ensuring inter-sector coordination to develop information technology through one policy and planning.
