Biosafety and Bioprotection regional training taking place in Uvs

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Western regional training ‘Biosafety and Bioprotection’ is running on November 6-8 in Ulaangom city, Uvs aimag.

 

Organized by the National Committee on Biosafety at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the training brought together 56 specialists from Khovd, Zavkhan, Gobi-Altai, Bayankhongor, Uvs, Bayan-Ulgii and Khuvsgul.

 

Head of the Committee, Minister N.Tserenbat said that the country should lower the risk and prevent from potential bio-hazards, ensure preparedness, upgrade legal environment for resolving management issues on disaster recovery, empower human resource and toughen monitoring. P53 regional project on organizing professional training on upgrading legal environment of national law on biosafety and bioprotection in Central Asian countries started implementing from last year by the National Committee on Biosafety of Mongolia and the EU Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Risk Mitigation Centers of Excellence Initiative.  The training is one of the project activities.

 

Attendees were heard information by specialists on infectious diseases, infectious agents, application of modern biotechnology, socioeconomic trends, chemical, bacteriological, radiological and nuclear risk mitigation, bioterrorism, bio ethical issues, risk and risk estimation and how to take counter reaction.   

 

Moreover, the attendees will receive certificates after having theoretic-practical knowledge on topics such as protective equipment, disinfection, biosafety in field, actions on if the hazardous sample is spilled.
