UNICEF research team working in Gobi-Altai

Gobi-Altai /MONTSAME/ On April 15-19, a research team of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is working in Gobi-Altai aimag to study pressing issues regarding social welfare of herder households and child protection. The team will also study access of social welfare services in Altai and Bugat soums to households which have school- and kindergarten-age children.
The government of Mongolia and UNICEF are implementing the five year
program 'Child Friendly Community' in Gobi-Altai aimag between 2017 and 2021. Last
year, the fund mainly carried out activities designed to empower local
authorities, children’s organizations, and public regarding the issue of children's
access to health, education, nutrition, sanitation, and health care services.
As for this year, UNICEF will implement activities worth USD 491.1 thousand in the
aimag.
