Speaker meets EU Ambassador
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On April 16, Speaker of the State Great Khural
G.Zandanshatar met with a delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Mongolia Traian Laurentiu Hristea,
exchanging views on the issues regarding investment, mining, economy, banking
and parliamentary cooperation.
In the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Traian Laurentiu Hristea briefed
the Speaker on the activities he has undertaken since his appointment, and
underlined that Mongolia-EU relations and cooperation have been successfully expanding in politics, investment and trade as well as at macro-economic level.
Highlighting the intensification of the parliamentary cooperation between Mongolia and EU, the Ambassador also informed that a capacity-building course on budget transparency, improving budget control, and lowering budget deficit is planned to be organized for the State Secretaries of Mongolia on April 25.
For his part, Speaker G.Zandanshatar gave information on the laws and
revisions passed by the Parliament and social and economic conditions of Mongolia,
mentioning the goals of building human right-respecting and corruption-free
society and independent, open, and fair judiciary, strengthening governance,
and promoting citizen-centered public services.
Package of tax bills and amendments to the procurement law have been
passed in order to create a legal framework for economic reform. Some more
important bills are waiting their turn. Stable legal environment
for businesses has key role in increasing the interest of foreign investors,
added the Speaker.
