Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry visits dairy processing companies
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On May 9, some government officials together
with representatives of dairy companies got acquainted with the production and
operation of ‘Ulemj Organic’ and ‘APU Dairy’ companies and discussed the
current state of Mongolia’s dairy industry and further actions to take.
The delegation was comprised of Minister of Food, Agriculture
and Light Industry Ch.Ulaan, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar, MP and Head
of the Mongolian Food Producers’ Association D.Terbishdagva, UN Food and
Agriculture Organization Resident Representative Vinod Ajuha, and
representatives of the National Dairy Development Board and dairy processing
companies.
During the visit, dairy processing companies informed the
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of the problems they are
facing. For his part, Minister Ch.Ulaan noted the importance of assessing the
current state of dairy industry in Mongolia and further specifying the
development policy for the industry, while mentioning that a national forum is
being planned to be held in June under the President’s directions. He also spoke
of the possible ways to overcome the issues and the goal of exporting new dairy
products.
