Diplomas of 13 thousand people to be released from student loan fund

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting on August 14, the Cabinet decided to submit a regulation on releasing diplomas of 13 thousand citizens who paid their tuition for local colleges and universities with student loan and honored their contractual obligation after graduation.

In this regard, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports Yo.Baatarbileg said, “We had a discussion about releasing diplomas of citizens who had their tuition prepaid from the Education Loan Fund between 2004 and 2016 and fulfilled their contractual obligation after their graduation. Thus, pursuant to the Law on Higher Education Financing and Students’ Social Security, the matter is addressed in the  regulation which will be submitted to the Parliament. After approval of the regulation, the issue regarding release of over 13 thousand diplomas being kept as the fund’s collateral will be dealt with. The matter was addressed previously in 2004 and 2008.”



In addition, a draft resolution on measures to be taken in scientific sector was passed at the meeting. About this matter, Minister Yo.Baatarbileg said, “In accordance with the cabinet resolution No. 27 of 2015, the number of scientific institutes has been reduced and non-functional ones have been combined, causing a chaos, and some scientific facilities have been transferred to organizations with other functions. Also, ownership of the Botanical Garden’s land was given to the urban authority, and then to entities, in general, it was a resolution disrupting normal functions of the sector. The Cabinet at today’s meeting, approved a resolution to resolve financing for correction of the errors and enhancement of the sector’s management.”

At the end of the statement, the Minister highlighted that the First Scientific Workers' Symposium is planned to be held in September.
