Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. An underground pedestrian tunnel located in the Ulaanbaatar city center known as “Khunsnii 20 tunnel” has been renovated by public-private partnership of Elite Construction LLC and Governor's office of the Capital city. The redevelopment work has been performed from April 25 to June 25 of this year in accordance with an order of Ulaanbaatar city mayor S.Amarsaikhan with an aim to improve the living environment of the residents and cater for pedestrian safety needs.

Not only residents but also visitors of the city have already been enjoying the new scenery of the re-designed underground pedestrian tunnel as well as public events. For example, artist E.Yesugen's ‘No mad’ documentary photography exhibition is on public display on the walls of the tunnel within the framework of the biannual ‘Ulaanbaatar public art week’. The photography exhibition is showcasing the variety of life in the today’s society in Ulaanbaatar city.

The underground pedestrian tunnel had not undergone repairs and maintenance works since it was built in 1988, lacking proper lighting and water drainage system and some people had been engaged in street trading without permission.
