Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the National Tree Planting Day on October 12, representatives of over 30 entities and organizations, such as the Secretariat of the Parliament, the Governor’s Office of the Capital City, and ‘Erdenes-Tavan Tolgoi’ JSC, planted about 1,500 trees and shrubs of 9 species at the National Garden Park.

This year under the motto ‘Fresh air for everyone, water for every tree’ Speaker of the Parliament G.Zandanshatar, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar, MP B.Javkhlan, First Deputy of Development Policy of the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor J.Batbayasgalan, Deputy Director of the National Garden Park B.Demberel took part in planting trees.

Speaker G.Zandanshatar said, “It is not only Mongolians but also the whole world that considers planting trees a good deed. However, the most important thing is to regularly visit the trees that were planted, and not forget to care for them. The experts at the National Garden Park reports that 97 percent of the trees that have been planted are growing. Thus, I call for everyone that planted trees to visit their trees every day instead of visiting it just once a year.”

In accordance with the Presidential Decree issued on April 14, 2010, ‘the National Tree Planting Day’ has been organized on the second Saturday of May and October every year since 2010. It has now become a custom to support practices of respecting mother nature, and organize public events for planting trees and creating green environments.
