Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On October 17, President Kh.Battulga received representatives of teachers and students who often participate in regional and international Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography and information science.

Extending congratulations to the students on expansion of Mongolian students’ participation in the international Olympiads and constant upgrade of their achievement, the President expressed his commitment to support them. For instance, the President expressed his support for hosting 22nd Asian Physics Olympiad in the country in 2021.

Teachers and students often encounter financial problems when they participate in international Olympiads. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports budgets MNT200 million annually for expenses on participation of students and teachers in the international Olympiads and it is spent on transportation fees only and sometimes students pay themselves for it when they represent the country in continental Olympiads.

Moreover, they put forward a request to resume previous practice that the government used to pay tuition fee of a student who is admitted to one of the world’s top universities, as well as to render financial support if a student is awarded with invitation to study at the world’s top university as a result of one’s participation in Olympiad.
