Ceremony for New Year’s Tree lighting held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On December 25, a ceremony to open the Ice Town and a lighting of New Year’s Holiday Tree was held on the central square in Ulaanbaatar.  


The Ice Town is composed of ice skating rink for both children and adults, ice sculptures with a theme of winter Olympics and various designs created by sculptor D.Tserenbat as well as ice sculptures of the Charles Bridge and the Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert of the the Czech Republic by sculptor Ts.Batmunkh, and graphic designer P.Sergelen.


Every night until the New Year’s Eve Day, December 31, 3D laser show will be staged at the Ice Town.


The Ice Town is serving visitors free of charge within the framework of ‘Clean Air City’ campaign initiated by Ulaanbaatar city Governor’s Office, enabling the residents of Ulaanbaatar city to enjoy winter season without going outside of the city. The campaign calls every citizen of Ulaanbaatar city for unite their efforts against air and environment pollution and climate change.


The ice town remains open at the central square until March 1, 2020.
