Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On January 30, Parliament approved a resolution on the use of voting equipment during the 2020 Parliamentary elections.

The resolution states to use “New Image Cast” voting machine for the voter registration and voting.

An examination, made in 2019 by the General Intelligence Agency and General Election Commission concluded that the machines, which had been in use since 2012 for two parliamentary, two local and two presidential elections, can be put into use again for the upcoming elections, and were checked to prevent from any errors in the vote-counting process. Therefore, no new voting equipment will be procured for this year’s elections.

The recently-approved election law also enabled recount on up to 50 percent all ballots in the elections.
