Energy Ministry presents 2020 plans

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On February 2020, the Ministry of Energy organized a press briefing, presenting the ministry’s report for 2019 and plan for 2020 in the energy industry. 


Upon the resolution of the Minister of Energy, 2019 was announced as the year of ‘Smart Energy’ and 2020 is the year of energy industry’s human resources development. 


Within the framework of the ‘smart energy year’ to make the energy network sustainable and reliable, Mongolia introduced the Wide Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS) into its general energy network. The introduction of the WAMS is deemed to enhance the reliable operations of the energy networks of the country, reducing the operational costs of the energy industry by 10-30. 


The energy ministry is also planning to train engineering workers and improving their work places, providing them with fully automated systems, and increase the productivity of energy workforce.  


Some of the works planned by the energy ministry for this year include an establishment of a new data center, formulation of standard for smart meters, and distribute 80 thousand smart meters to be provided by the World Bank to electricity distribution networks.
