Ulaanbaatar to work with other cities to reduce cancer deaths

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On March 13, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city S.Amarsaikhan received Consultant surgeon at National Cancer Center of Mongolia J.Chinburen to exchange views on City Cancer Challenge.
Informing that, in Mongolia, 6 thousand people die from cancer annually and 16 people from liver cancer a day, Dr. Chinburen noted that Mongolia will be provided with opportunities for access to technical assistance and resources for cancer solutions to save lives when it joins the City Cancer Challenge.
In turn, Mayor Amarsaikhan expressed his eagerness to become the 18th city to join the City Cancer Challenge as it is of vital importance to improve early detection of cancer.
City Cancer Challenge was launched by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in affiliation with the World Health Organization. The UICC is expected to made a decision on the future engagement of Ulaanbaatar in the City Cancer Challenge next week.
