Export Promotion Council holds its second meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Export Promotion Council held its second meeting under the topic “Measures to be taken in increasing exports of meat and meat products” on September 10 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


During the opening of the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan cited that Mongolia had over 70 million head of livestock; however, the country still has not managed to become a meat exporter country. The Minister also underlined the importance of increasing meat export to the two neighboring countries in the near future alongside starting its export to ASEAN and the Middle Eastern countries further. “Unified policy and coordination are needed to enter Mongolian meat into global market under the label of eco product and to boost export,” he added.


Representatives from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, the General Agency for Specialized Inspection, the General Authority for Veterinary Services, the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology and the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered presentations on meat export issues and the meeting participants agreed to develop a scheduled plan on resolving pressing issues and to work promptly.
