Draft Mongolia-Kazakhstan social security agreement discussed

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Since Mongolia-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Commission for trade, economic, scientific, and cultural cooperation decided to establish a social security agreement between the two countries, a joint expert group has met four times in Nur-Sultan, Republic of Kazakhstan.


The group’s 5th meeting has been held virtually due to the global pandemic, Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan Birjan Nurymbetov emphasized that the security agreement will play an important role in ensuring social security for the citizens of the two countries.


Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Mongolia A.Ariunzaya informed that the Government of Mongolia is working to ensure social security for every citizen, update the social insurance system, to secure basic pension for every elderly person, and switch to a multi-level pension system and that a revised package of Laws on Social Insurance is being prepared to be submitted for the 2020 fall session of the Parliament.


The expert group discussed the draft agreement at length and decided to hold its 6th meeting virtually in the first half of December after the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission in November.
