German Embassy provides financial support for National Center for Maternal, Child Health
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Although Mongolia has been able to
successfully prevent the COVID-19 pandemic from spreading in the country
through its quick and consistent action, now the winter season brings major
challenges for hospitals of the country.
Many medical equipment and devices are out of date or not
available, and consumables for treatment and prevention are in short supply. In
the event of an outbreak, there is a risk that the health system capacity will
be insufficient. First of all, it will negatively affect the protection of the
health of vulnerable groups, mothers and children, and the provision of
appropriate treatment. Therefore it requires a prompt response.
The German Embassy in Mongolia provided financial
support of approximately EUR 50,000 to the ‘National Center for Maternal
and Child Health of Mongolia’ for ensuring COVID-19 prevention and preparedness.
With this donation, the NCMCH will purchase urgently needed consumables, such as protective face masks and personal protective equipment and sanitizing and disinfecting devices. It will build an adequate resource to cope with potential challenges from a possible outbreak of the coronavirus and the seasonal flu outbreak.
