Freight transport across Altanbulag border checkpoint to resume February 1

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The cabinet held a regular weekly meeting today, January 13. 


A decision was made at the meeting to extend the suspension placed on the cross-border freight movement at the Altanbulag border crossing checkpoint in Selenge aimag until February 1, 2021. The movement at the checkpoint with Russia had been suspended until January 18, 2021 with a view to prevent from COVID-19 spread. 


Beginning from February 1, cross-border transportation of medicine, medical supplies and foodstuffs will be allowed at the Altanbulag border checkpoint once a week under special regime. 


Foreign freight drivers will have to drop off their trailers at the clearance and inspection zone for pickup by domestic freight forwarders bound for the final destination.  


Cold weather disinfection zone, temporary workplaces for border inspection and auto transportation administration employees will be established and surveillance cameras will also be installed at the Altanbulag border crossing checkpoint in Selenge aimag.
