Hay and mineral lick placed for red deer fawns reintroduced to Khantaishir Range

Gobi-Altai /MONTSAME/ The Environment and Tourism Department of Gobi-Altai aimag placed 100 small bales of hay and 200 kg mineral lick for 20 red deer fawns reintroduced to Khantaishir Range as a biotechnical measure, an activity aimed at improving the habitat and forage conditions of fauna as defined in the National Law on Fauna.
In 2017, the Gobi-Altai Environment and Tourism Department developed 2 hectares of fenced area in support of an initiative of Altai Red Deer NGO to let the fawns smoothly get adapted to their new home as well as to feed them. According to the department, the fenced area in Khantaishir Range where 40 red deer have been reintroduced since 2017 was expanded in 2020 and a certain amount of hay and mineral lick is placed for the deer annually.
