Plans afoot to reopen Buyant-Ukhaa border crossing in May

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Preparations necessary for COVID-19 infection prevention including immunizing border control staff, setting up quarantine facilities for suspected cases, installing physical barriers, and placing physical distancing signs and tapes are underway, pursuant to the directive given by Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene to make preparations so that international flights at Buyant-Ukhaa airport are resumed from May 1, 2021.


At a regular meeting of the Cabinet on March 1, relevant Ministers were ordered to approve rules and regulations to follow when the border opens and develop a unified electronic visa system and introduce it from May 1. The Cabinet will make decisions regarding opening other border crossings after assessing the risks.
