MPs Uchral, Munkhtsetseg participate in IPU Standing Committee on UN Affairs conference

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The series of virtual conferences as a preparation for the 142nd IPU Assembly are continuing for the third day. The members of the State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia are participating in these virtual conferences and on April 29 event was attended by Mr. N.Uchral, a member of the State Great Hural, Chair of the Innovation and Digital Policy Standing Committee at the State Great Hural who is a member of the Bureau of the IPU Standing Committee on UN Affairs and Ms. Ts.Munkhtsetseg, a member of the State Great Hural.


At the virtual conference, Ts.Munkhtsetseg MP, presented a speech on topic of “How the Covid-19 pandemic impacting the inequality?” In her speech, she noted that the pandemic is further deepening the inequality in the global level. It is particularly apparent in employment, digital sparsity and specific hardship on women and obvious in the limited vaccine accessibility. 


According to her, the countries which have not successfully implemented policies in health service, social security, appropriate labor remunerations, fair taxation systems are hit hard by the COVID-19’s impact on economic sector and public disasters. She concluded her speech saying the pandemic and inequality must be fought by global efforts. The presenters and parliament members of other countries underlined and expressed agreement in their presentations during the conference that the universal solutions and post pandemic recoveries and fulfilling the UN SDG objectives can only be achieved by the active and close cooperation of the countries in the world.


Today’s conference has discussed the UN75 declaration and heard the latest developments. It also conducted virtual survey from the participants and heard their opinions on both the UN75 declaration and the UN SDG and accordingly Mr. N.Uchral MP, and Ms. Ts. Munkhtsetseg MP, have actively taken a part representing Mongolian Parliament.
