Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Parliament of Mongolia approved on June 30, 2017, Law on Allowances for Mothers and Single mothers/fathers with Many Children. However, in January 2021, the Constitutional Court of Mongolia issued a conclusion that some provisions in the law are in conflict with the Constitution of Mongolia.

In May 2021, the parliament made changes to the law and added the word ‘fathers’ to the corresponding provisions in order to enable mothers or fathers who are caring for their children aged 0-3 years old and twin children aged up to 4 years old at home to receive childcare allowances. The law entered into force on July 1, 2021.

Following the law amendment, the cabinet of Mongolia at its July 7 session revised a regulation to provide monthly allowances for Mothers and Single mothers/fathers with Many Children. More than 20,000 fathers who are caring for their children aged 0-3 are now additionally included to receive childcare allowance.
