Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Students of the universities,
colleges and TVETs, youth, cadets of military schools, military personnel, as
well as job seekers will be recruited for the fall harvest. They will sign the
labor contract and receive salary, said Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light
Industry Z.Mendsaikhan.
At its regular meeting, the Cabinet also decided to allow the unimpeded passage of agrarian machinery, equipment and goods that are required during the harvesting through the border for the purpose to ensure the undisruptable work of harvesting and haymaking.
This year, 626.6 thousand hectares of land have been
cultivated nationwide, including 416.8 thousand hectares for grains (of which
385 thousand hectares for wheat), 19.0 thousand hectares for potatoes, 9.4
thousand hectares for vegetables, 80.0 hectares for fodder plants, 86 thousand
hectares for oil plants, and 4.7 thousand hectares for fruits and
berries.
Compared to the same period of the previous year, the cultivated areas for wheat increased by 26.7 thousand hectares, --potatoes by 1.6 thousand, and -- vegetables by 877 hectares.
Natural and climatic conditions adversely affected the crop
growth. Moreover, the export of harvesting machinery, spare parts and
techniques has been delayed due to the situations in the border area during the
COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the demand for labor force for this year's
harvest will be higher than in previous years.
