Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Minister of Energy N.Tavinbekh has issued an
appeal and launched a campaign to plant 100 thousand trees.
At the General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General
Assembly, President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh noted that Mongolia has launched a
campaign to plant one billion trees by 2030.
As the energy sector emits the largest amount of carbon dioxide, this
initiative will be led by the energy sector employees, which will gradually
plant maple, apricot, almond, lilac, elm and ornamental willow in Dundgobi
aimag and Bagakhangai and Nalaikh districts of the capital city.
Furthermore, the representatives of the energy sector will hold a
meeting with local authorities in the near future to exchange views and make decisions about the issues concerning the place where the trees will be planted, accompanying works, and
post-planting care.
The minister N.Tavinbekh called on citizens and other sectors to support the
initiative, which will have a positive impact on the environment in many ways.
