‘Brigadier-General’ rank awarded to a woman for the first time in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of Mongolian Military
Day and the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the modern Mongolian Armed
Forces, U. Khurelsukh, President of Mongolia and Commander-in-Chief of the
Armed Forces, has issued a decree on awarding military ranks. In accordance
with the presidential decree, the highest military rank ‘Brigadier-General’ was
conferred upon Colonel G. Bolor, Chief of the Training Department of
the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces.
The President of Mongolia and the Commander-in-Chief of the
Armed Forces congratulated G. Bolor on receiving the highest military rank and
wished her success. The President emphasized that having the first female
General in the history of Mongolian armed forces brings a new trend to the personnel
structure of the Armed Forces.
He also noted that it is a clear expression of gratitude to
not only women serving in the military but also all women for their valuable
contribution and achievements in the development and prosperity of the country.
G. Bolor has been twice appointed as a staff officer
in UN peacekeeping operations. She was also the first Mongolian to be deployed as a Peacekeeping Affairs Officer at the UN Headquarters.
