Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. UNDP’s Business and Human Right
Project funded by the European Union and the Environmental Governance Programme
(SEPA) organized training on human rights due diligence. The training was
attended by 31 participants representing from Mongolian Wool and Cashmere
Association, Mongolian Food Industry Association, Women Association of Mineral
Sector, and other civil society organizations.
Sean, Lees, Business and Human Rights Senior Specialist from
the Bangkok Regional Hub, UNDP, spoke on relevance of human rights to
businesses and international regulatory trends related to human rights due
diligence.
UNDP released ‘Human Rights Training Facilitation Guide’ in
2021 which served as the basis for the training that provided the participants
with knowledge and tools necessary to identify and assess adverse human impacts
and risks of business operations, integrate and act upon them.
Developed countries around the world started setting human
rights and environmental requirements to businesses and their supply chains. This
is one of the reasons why human rights due diligence is becoming important for
companies particularly those interested in exporting goods and services from
Mongolia. The training participants said that the training was timely and
effective.
