/MONTSAME/. The ninth international calligraphy exhibition ‘Uyanga’ was opened
at the ‘Bichig Soyol’ gallery of the Union of Mongolian Artists /UMA/ on
September 23
The Office of the
Governor of Dornod aimag, Mongolia, and the New Barag Right Banner of Inner
Mongolia have been organizing this exhibition every year since 2014. This year,
the exhibition has been opened in Ulaanbaatar for the first time with the
participation of more than 50 artists from the Russian Federation, the People's
Republic of China, the French Republic, and Mongolia.
The Implementing
Agency Culture and Arts Committee of the Government of Mongolia, the Publicity
Department of Hulonbuir City of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of the
People's Republic of China, the Office of the Governor of the Dornod aimag of
Mongolia, and the ‘Bichig Soyol’ Center are jointly organizing the
‘Uyanga-2022’ exhibition. Organizations such as the International Mongolian
Calligraphy Association, UMA, the Central Library of Dornod aimag, the ‘Art
Meaning Association,’ and the ‘Calligraphy Association’ of New Barag Right
Banner of Hulonbuir participated as supporters.
During the opening
ceremony, the chair of the board of the ‘International Mongolian Calligraphy
Association’ R. Otgonbaatar noted, "We are delighted that the artists of
Inner Mongolia have taken the exhibition that used to be organized in the
Dornod aimag to the next level by bringing it to the capital city of Mongolia,
Ulaanbaatar. The development of such an exhibition of scrupulous and
sophisticated records of our scrip culture in the future will be very
beneficial for our young generation and the entire Mongolian population to
preserve and develop the Mongolian language and culture."
The head of the Art
Meaning Association of New Barag Right Banner of Hulonbuir of Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region Sarnaa emphasized in her virtual greeting, "It is
important to contribute to the international cultural exchange through art and
culture activities expanding the scale of the calligraphy exhibition year by
year. Organizing ‘Uyanga-2022’ in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, is
progress forward."
The head of the
‘Bichig Soyol’ Center and master of calligraphy D. Ganbaatar said, "Next
year, the exhibition will be displayed in Dornod aimag, as well as
internationally. Due to border restrictions, foreign artists could not attend
this time, but they sent their works by post. The exhibition featured works
related to Mongolian history, culture, and tradition. The artworks of the
exhibition indicate that Mongolians have recently started writing with bamboo
pens besides brushes. In this way, we invite you to come and see the unique
features, differences, and trends of Mongolian, Inner Mongolian, Buryatia, and Kalmyk
calligraphers at the exhibition.”
The exhibition
‘Uyanga’ is open to the public at the ‘Bichig Soyol’ gallery of the Union of
Mongolian Artists until October 15, 2022.
