Mongolian team won bronze medal at Women`s Freestyle World Cup for fourth time

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian national wrestling team and the All-World team claimed bronze medals at the 2022 Women`s Freestyle World Cup respectively. The 2022 Men’s and Women’s Freestyle World Cup events took place at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa on December 10-11.


In the tournament, the Mongolian women's wrestling team beat Japan 5:5 and lost to Ukraine 3:7. As a result, they came out second from the group and competed for the bronze medal against the host USA team and won the bronze medal of the World Cup by defeating 7:3, while the All-World team defeated Georgia 8:2.


Mongolian female wrestlers have been continuously participating in the World Cup since 2009, winning silver medals in 2013, and bronze medals in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.


This was the first time in history that the Men`s Freestyle World Cup and the Women`s Freestyle World Cup events were held side-by-side. The top five countries that have qualified for the 2022 Men’s Freestyle World Cup were the United States, Iran, Japan, Georgia, and Mongolia.


The top five countries that have qualified for the 2022 Women’s Freestyle World Cup were Japan, the United States, China, Mongolia, and Ukraine. Each side also had an All-World Team represented by top athletes whose countries did not qualify.
