E-Sports to be included in "Ulaanbaatar-2023" East Asian Youth Games

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. For the first time, E-Sports will be included in the East Asian Youth Games which will be held in the summer of 2023.  In this regard, the Organizing Committee of the ‘Ulaanbaatar-2023’ East Asian Youth Games and the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on December 16, 2022.


"Ulaanbaatar-2023" East Asian Youth Festival will be held in the capital of Mongolia on August 16-23, 2023, and over 1500 athletes from 9 countries will compete in 12 sports categories.


Deputy Governor of Ulaanbaatar in charge of the social sector, green development, and air and environmental pollution, and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the ‘Ulaanbaatar-2023’ East Asian Youth Games Z. Tumurtumuu said "Ulaanbaatar is a youth city, with about 70% of the population under the age of 45. The East Asian Youth Games is the first major youth festival organized in Mongolia. Therefore, this is being considered at the capital and government levels. The city authorities included E-Sports in the festival as requested by the youth. We are pleased to cooperate with the AESF to develop E-Sports in the right way."


AESF Chief Operations Officer Sebastian Lau noted that the development of E-Sports is very important for youths. In addition, he said that projects and programs aimed at giving a better understanding of E-Sports to youths and their parents following the festival.


Mongolian athletes have been actively participating in the East Asian Youth Games since 1993, winning a total of 5 gold, 14 silver, 82 bronze, and a total of 101 medals.
