Speaker Receives Acting Director of WHO Western Pacific Center

Ulaanbaatar, August 23, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The Chairman of the State Great Khural G. Zandanshatar received the Acting Director of the World Health Organization's Western Pacific Region Dr Zsuzsanna Jacabos on August 22, 2023.


The Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament welcomed Dr Zsuzsanna Jakabos, wished a good stay in Mongolia and expressed gratitude for her assistance in organizing the Seventh Meeting of the Asia Pacific Parliamentarian Forum (APPF) on Global Health on behalf of the Parliament


G. Zandanshatar congratulated Dr Zsuzsanna Jakabos on the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of WHO and mentioned that last year Mongolia and WHO jointly celebrated the 60th Anniversary of cooperation between Mongolia and WHO. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to WHO, particularly the Western Pacific Center, WHO Representative Office in Mongolia for their active and close collaboration in the health care of Mongolians.


Dr Zsuzsanna Jakabos expressed gratitude to the State Great Khural and its Chairman for leading the organization of the Seventh Meeting of the Asia Pacific Parliamentarian Forum (APPF) on Global Health.


Dr Zsuzsanna Jakabos and her colleagues worked in Altanbulag and Sergelen soums, got acquainted with the activities of health centers, methods of providing primary medical care. She noted, “Mongolia has formed its own system of providing primary medical care in its rural areas with a small, scattered population. The participants of the Seventh Forum approve such a system and admit the importance of familiarizing this system at the international level. Therefore, we are interested in putting Mongolia as a model country at the international summit which will be organized the coming October in Astana, Kazakhstan. This is important in improving the accessibility of comprehensive primary health care to households living in rural areas far from the centers”.


The sides expressed their confidence in further expansion and development of cooperation between Mongolia and WHO towards protecting health and improving the quality of life of Mongolians.
