President Khurelsukh Meets President of the National Assembly of Laos

Ulaanbaatar, September 8, 2023 /MONTSAME/. The President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa received today the President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Xaysomphone Phomvihane, upon his Official Visit to Mongolia. 

 

President Khurelsukh underlined the significance of developing relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Southeast Asian countries in Mongolia's foreign policy for the Asia-Pacific region. The President noted that the bilateral relations and cooperation are developing steadily in security, defense, agriculture, health, and education sectors. 

 

Noting the fact that Mongolia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic have just celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the President of Mongolia Khurelsukh expressed his confidence that Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane would actively work towards further developing the relations and cooperation between the two countries, giving particular attention to the cooperation between the highest legislative bodies by defining its prospects and directions. 

 

Marking a new era of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the President of the National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane conveyed the sincere greetings and invitation of the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith to the President of Mongolia Khurelsukh to visit Laos at his convenience.

 

Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane affirmed Laos's commitment to continue supporting Mongolia's bid to become an ASEAN dialogue partner and to join in regional integrations, such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and noted that this Visit marks the new chapter of interparliamentary cooperation of the two countries. 

 

The Meeting touched on issues of mutual interest in the international and regional arenas and cooperation opportunities between Mongolia and Laos in trade, economy, investment, agriculture, education, health, tourism, transport and logistics, and environment.
