International Conference Discusses Mongolia-EU Relations and Future Trends

Ulaanbaatar, October 23, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On October 20, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Department of Political Science of the National University of Mongolia, Otgontenger University, Institute of Political Science of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia, and Department of European Studies of the National University of Mongolia jointly organized an international scientific conference on the topic "European Union: Current State, Future Trends."
The European Union (EU) is a strategic third neighbor, reliable partner, and main partner of Mongolia in strengthening democratic governance with respect for human rights, forming civil society, achieving sustainable development goals, growing the economy, reducing poverty, and entering the European market. Under the principles and provisions of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, ratified 10 years ago, relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the EU have continued to expand and deepen, with increasingly diverse forms and content.
A clear manifestation of this strong partnership is the Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) implemented by the European Union in Mongolia. The purpose and significance of this international conference are to comprehensively discuss the results of the implementation of the goals, values, and ideas reflected in the MIP and other political and legal documents, based on facts, calculations, and research, as well as to assess the current situation and determine further tasks.
The Conference discussed the successes, achievements, and experiences of Mongolia-EU relations, as well as emerging challenges and ways and solutions for further development. Axelle Nicaise, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Mongolia, and B. Binderya, Deputy Director of the Department of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and N. Enkhzaya, Rector of Otgontenger University, made opening remarks at the Conference.
Researchers from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Ukraine, England, China, and Japan, as well as Mongolian scientists and researchers, including Honorary Diplomat, Advisor-Teacher at the Otgontenger University, Doctor of Science G. Tumurchuluun, Director of the School of International Relations at the University of Humanities, Doctor of Sciences D. Ulambayar, Academician N. Begz, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary B. Enkhmandakh (Ph.D.), and Doctor of the Japanese University of Kyoto E. Enkhchimeg, delivered presentations at the Conference.
