Deputy Chairman Munkhbaatar Pays Official Visit to Sweden

Ulaanbaatar, October 24, 2023 /MONTSAME/. On October 20, 2023, the Mongolian delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Munkhbaatar Lkhagva held an official meeting with the First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag (Parliament) of the Kingdom of Sweden Kenneth G. Forslund.

 

First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag Kenneth G. Forslund expressed gratitude to the Mongolian delegation for the Official Visit to the Kingdom of Sweden and emphasized the importance of reciprocal visits between the two countries for developing inter-parliamentary relations and cooperation at all levels.

 

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Mongolia Munkhbaatar noted the significance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in relations between the two countries and said that the Mongolian-Swedish parliamentary group in the State Great Khural and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Sweden T. Janabazar are actively working to expand and strengthen cooperation between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Sweden. 


The two sides touched upon green technology, culture, education, trade, investment, and ways to protect the interests of the citizens of the two countries. Deputy Chairman Munkhbaatar noted that, under Mongolia's Green Development Policy, the country is implementing the "One Billion Trees" National Campaign, initiated by President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, to contribute to combating global climate change, reduce its impact, and achieve green development. The public and private sectors are actively collaborating to achieve this goal.

 

Deputy Chairman Munkhbaatar noted that the Ethnographic Museum of Sweden houses more than 2,300 Mongolian historical and cultural artifacts and proposed displaying a joint exhibition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Sweden in 2024. In this context, the two sides agreed on the importance of celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and strengthening bilateral relations in trade, investment, environment, renewable energy, education, and culture.
