Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets President of the International Olympic Committee

Ulaanbaatar, January 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On the 19th of this month, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the leader of the Mongolian team for the “Gangwon 2024” Winter Youth Olympics B. Battsetseg met with the President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach. Foreign Minister Battsetseg provided information to the President of the IOC about the development of our country's sports and the team athletes. The discussions also covered the possibility of expanding cooperation in the future, and opinions were exchanged on the sports education of youth.


During the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg expressed the desire to host the Asian Games and the Youth Summer Olympics in Mongolia. President Thomas Bach responded positively, stating that he will look into it. Additionally, on this occasion, the Foreign Minister met with Ms. Patama Leeswadtrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Badminton World Federation. The Foreign Minister provided information about the World Women's Forum, scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar in August 2024. Ms. Leeswadtrakul was invited to the event, and both parties exchanged opinions on sports development, cooperation, and women's leadership.


The "Gangwon 2024" Winter Youth Olympics will continue from January 19 to February 1, 2024. Our team is participating in this Winter Games with the largest number of athletes in its history, totaling 12.
