Mongolian Ice Climbers Claim Nine Medals since the Start of 2024

Ulaanbaatar, March 4, 2024. /MONTSAME/. On March 1, 2024, O. Battulga, the Head of the State Committee for Physical Education and Sports of Mongolia, received the winners of the ice-climbing athletes of Mongolia who excelled at the World Championships and the World Cup Series.


Mongolian ice climbers earned nine (4 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze) medals at the Youth and Adult World Championships and the World Cup Series in the first two months of 2024. 


Specifically, at the Youth World Championships in France, B. Munkhbaatar secured a gold medal in speed climbing, while A. Zorigtbaatar and Ts. Anar claimed silver. At the World Championships in Switzerland, N. Khurel clinched the gold medal, and Ch. Mandakhbayar captured silver in the speed climbing category. Moreover, N. Khurel clinched a gold medal, whereas N. Selenge earned a bronze medal at the World Cup in Canada.


Among them, Ch. Mandakhbayar topped the world rankings. B. Munkhbaatar brought the first gold medal of the Mongolian athletes at the Youth World Championships. N. Kherlen and N. Selenge became the first Mongolian athletes to attain a medal at the World Cup for the adult category. 


At the meeting, U. Anar, J. Amina, and A. Zorigtbaatar were conferred with the Credentials of the Committee, while N. Selenge and B. Munkhbaatar were granted the titles of International Master of Sports of Mongolia.
