Ulaanbaatar, May 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. As part of the “Let’s Read” program aiming to improve the availability of children’s books in Mongolian, the Asia Foundation donated 1000 children’s books in five types to the Governor’s Office of Ulaanbaatar City on May 21, 2024.

The ”Let’s Read” program aims to make parents, guardians, and teachers understand the significance of reading books to young children up to 5 years old to encourage their growth and development.

Director of the Governor’s Office of Ulaanbaatar City Khosbayar Luulai expressed gratitude to the Asian Foundation and informed that the books will be handed over to public kindergartens located in suburbs of Ulaanbaatar, the Special Center for Children and Youth Education, and the Special Center for Social Protection.

Country Representative of the Asia Foundation Sara Taylor noted that the “Let’s Read” program was initiated three years ago in collaboration with the Lorinet Foundation, and the Asia Foundation has developed a free digital library that currently offers over 10 thousand children’s books in English and other languages of countries in Asia and the Pacific, of which 231 are available in the Mongolian language.

Representatives of recipient kindergartens and organizations also attended the handover ceremony.
