Delegation of Mongolian Parliament Secretariat on Working Visit to the Republic of Italy

/MONTSAME/. The Mongolian delegation headed by the Secretary-General of the
State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia Dr. Enkhbat Damdin visited the
Chamber of Deputies of the Senate of the Republic (Parliament) of Italy and met
with the Secretary-General of the Chamber of Deputies, Fabrizio Castaldi, on
May 24, 2024.
At the meeting, the Secretary-General of the State Great Khural Dr. Enkhbat Damdin mentioned that even though Mongolia and Italy established diplomatic relations in 1970, the two countries' historical relations are traced back to the Medieval Times, proven by the writings of Plano Carpini, an ambassador of the Roman Pope, and Marco Polo, who served Khubilai Khaan for 17 years.
The Secretary-General Dr. Enkhbat Damdin noted that interparliamentary cooperation holds importance in strengthening the relations between the two countries, and emphasized that this working visit turns a new page in the relations and
cooperation between the State Great Khural and Senate of the Republic of Italy and their respective Secretariats.
Secretary-General of the Chamber of Deputies of the Senate of the Republic of Italy Fabrizio Castaldi emphasized the significance of the visit and expressed confidence that multilateral measures will be taken to strengthen the interparliamentary relations of the two countries and the scope of cooperation would continuously expand.
From the Mongolian side, the meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Italy Narantungalag Tserendorj, Head of the Standing Committee Affairs Division of the Legal Department of the
Secretariat of the State Great Khural Agar-Erdene Gankhuyag, Senior Advisor of the Legal Analysis Division of the Legal Department of the Secretariat of the State Great Khural Sainkhishig Jambaldorj, and Senior Advisor of the Foreign
Affairs Department of the State Great Khural Batbold Maruush.
During the working visit, the Mongolian delegation met with the officials of the Historical Archives, Research Department, and Information Technology Department of the Chamber of Deputies, and shared information and learned the best practices of the Italian Parliament, the operations of the General Secretariat, the process of formulating, discussing, and passing draft laws, legal analysis methods on draft laws, archive and record keeping, and how modern advancements in information technology are being used in daily operations.
