“The MongolZ” E-Sport Team Wins Abu Dhabi Tournament

Ulaanbaatar, June 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Mongolian E-sport team “The MongolZ” has been crowned champions at the “Yalla Compass 2024” Counter-Strike 2 tournament held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and won USD 200,000 from the prize pool of USD 400,000.
The team was invited to the tournament and finished first place after defeating “Ninjas in Pyjamas” by 2:1 in the grand finals. The 12 teams competed in two groups with a round-robin format, where three teams with the most wins proceeded to the playoff stage.
Leading the A group, “The MongolZ” beat “Sashi Esport”, “ENCE”, “Ninjas in Pyjamas”, and “Heroic”, however, they lost against “Astralis” during the group stage. They got their payback by winning against “Astralis” in the semi-final match and proceeded to the grand finals.
This is the first time a Mongolian Counter-Strike team won an “S-tier” tournament, where B. Usukhbayar, in game name 910, was awarded the Most Valuable Player nomination.
