The 7th International Festival of Morin Khuur Announces Its Winners

Ulaanbaatar, July 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the International Festival of Morin Khuur, a traditional Mongolian musical instrument Horsehead Fiddle, took place for the seventh time in Dalanzadgad soum of Umnugobi aimag, Mongolia, on July 16-22, 2024.


The International Festival of Morin Khuur, which brought together over 170 participants, announced the winners of the Contest of Professional Morin Khuur Players, the Contest of Morin Khuur Enthusiasts, and the Contest of Morin Khuur Crafters—on July 21, 2024.


In the Contest of Professional Morin Khuur Players, B. Enkh-Amgalan topped with a score of 96.5, followed by B. Erdenebileg  with a score of 95.4. Ts. Ankhbayar earned third place with a score of 95.2, and O. Tumurkhuyag captured an honorable mention with a score of 93.0.





In the Contest of Morin Khuur Crafters, P. Sansarbold won first place, A. Tsogtsaikhan secured second place, and A. Ulziibat took third place. Honorable mentions went to to B. Tuvshinbat and Ts. Uranjargal.


A total of 77 Morin Khuur players competed in youth and adult categories of the Contest of Morin Khuur Enthusiasts of the 7th International Festival of Morin Khuur. In the adult category of the Contest of Morin Khuur Enthusiasts, U. Tugsjargal won first place with a score of 93, M. Imuujin took second place with a score of 91, N. Henry won third place with a score of 89.7, and B. Bryan received an honorable mention with a score of 87.3.


In the youth category, M. Bilegjargal won first place with a score of 87.7, followed by B. Purevdash with a score of 87.3, Kim Yeon Jun third place with 85.7 points, and Caviness Caleb received an honorable mention with a score of 85.2.



B. Enkhzul was selected as the Best Concertmaster, while E. Namuun was awarded the prize named after the Morin Khuur Supporting "Batchuluun Tsend" Foundation, A. Dolgion and G. Belgutei were awarded the prize named after the Morin Khuur Center in Europe, and D. Tulga and B. Anu-Ujin received the prize named after the Morin Khuur Center in North America.


The Gala Concert and Awards Ceremony of the 7th International Festival of Morin Khuur will be held on July 22, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the Musical Drama Theatre in Dalanzadgad soum, Umnugobi aimag.
