“Welcome Home-3” Traveling Exhibition to be Displayed in Umnugobi Aimag
Art & CultureUlaanbaatar, July 31, 2024 /MONTSAME/. A traveling exhibition “Welcome Home-3” will be displayed at the Gobi Museum of Nature and History from August 25 to September 16, 2024, in Umnugobi aimag, the homeplace of dinosaurs.
To realize the “Mongolian Heritage and the World”
action, reflected in the Mongolian Government’s Action Plan, the Ministry
of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia is taking measures in
stages including repatriating cultural heritages from overseas back to
Mongolia, conducting joint research, and displaying exhibitions.
Dinosaur fossils, originating from Mongolia have been repatriated since 2013, with five rounds of repatriation currently.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of modern museums in Mongolia, the “Welcome Home” exhibition was opened in March 2024, at the Natural History Museum of Mongolia, displaying dinosaur fossils brought back from abroad and also those kept at the Natural History Museum of Mongolia. The “Welcome Home-2” exhibition opened at the Children and Youth Theatre of Mongolia in June 2024, with 11 dinosaur skulls in four species, including Tarbosaurus Bataar and the Protoceratops.
The Gobi Natural History Museum invites the residents of Dalanzadgad soum of Umnugobi aimag, as well as foreign and domestic tourists to visit the dinosaur exhibition to be displayed until September 16, 2024.
