Mongolia Hosts Tenth International Children's Sports Games

Ulaanbaatar, August 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The 10th International Children's Sports Games officially commenced in Ulaanbaatar on August 5, 2024.


This four-day event features 460 athletes from Mongolia, Russia, and China, competing for 525 sets of medals in nine main categories: basketball, futsal, table tennis, judo, volleyball, archery, freestyle wrestling, boxing, and athletics. Moreover, demonstration sports include traditional wrestling and traditional archery.


The competitions are taking place at various venues: "Nairamdal" International Children's Camp, "Buyant-Ukhaa" Sports Complex, National Team Training Center, "Och" Table Tennis Club, the sports field in Nalaikh District, and the Physical Education and Sports Palace in Bayangol District.


First organized in Ulaanbaatar in 2009,  the most recent  International Children's Sports Games took place in Chita, Russia, in 2019, before it was paused due to the pandemic. This marks the fourth time Mongolia has hosted the event.


Notable young athletes who have previously participated in the Games included world judo championship double bronze medalist L. Enkhriilen, bronze medalist L. Otgonbaatar, Youth Olympic freestyle wrestling champion B. Battsetseg, junior world championship bronze medalist and "Paris-2024" participant B. Khongorzul, and world boxing championship bronze medalists E. Tsendbaatar and B. Misheelt.
