Agreement on Visa Exemption for Diplomatic Passport Holders to Be Established with Oman

/MONTSAME/. At the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of
Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate
of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, is paying an official visit to Mongolia on August
25-26, 2024. The Foreign Ministers of the two countries held a press briefing,
after their official talks.
Minister
of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh stated
at the beginning of the briefing, "The parties held official talks,
exchanged detailed views on expanding and developing Mongolia-Oman cooperation
in all mutually beneficial areas, and discussed issues of mutual interest in
international relations. Furthermore, we outlined the goals, methods, and prospects
for expanding political, trade, economic, and other sectors’ relations and
cooperation between the two countries." The Foreign Minister added,
"Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations our
two countries have maintained friendly political relations, and the two parties
agreed on the need to elevate our cooperation to a new level. During the talks,
Mongolia expressed its aspiration to develop cooperation with Oman in specific
areas. In particular, we agreed to develop economic cooperation, especially in
mining, energy, education, environment, and agriculture sectors, and strengthen
the legal framework for cooperation in these sectors.”
Within the framework of the "Years to
Visit Mongolia 2023-2025," the two parties mutually agreed to establish an
intergovernmental agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic,
official/special, and service passports in the near future, noted Minister
Battsetseg.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, said, "During the talks, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding between our Ministries of Foreign Affairs. This memorandum is an important step to strengthen our diplomatic relations and affirms that our dialogue continues regularly and effectively. I am pleased that the two countries also expressed the shared aspiration to enhance and expand cooperation in all sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, mining, culture, and technology. I am confident that there are tremendous opportunities for cooperation in these areas and that our two countries can achieve mutually beneficial and tangible results. We reiterated our commitment to working together for peace, stability, and sustainable development not only in our region but globally. We emphasized the importance of promoting these values and the need for everyone’s efforts, agreeing to continue our cooperation in multilateral frameworks."
This visit is of great significance as it marks the first official visit to Mongolia at the level of Omani Foreign Minister since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992.
