SocietyUlaanbaatar, October 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The “Milk Program” is being implemented in secondary schools in Ulaanbaatar, specifically in areas where air pollution is high.
In order to bolster the health of children and support domestic dairy producers, the “Milk” Program is being implemented in secondary schools, giving students milk three days a week, with collaboration from the Capital City, districts, parents, caretakers, and public participation. Each day of the three of milk servings will be funded by the Capital City, the district, and the parents respectively. In line with this program, the Governor’s Office of the Capital City of Mongolia allocated MNT 1 billion in its 2024 budget while the Governors Office of Khan-Uul, Bayanzurkh, and Bayangol districts allocated MNT 767 million in funding.
As part of the “Milk Program,” 11785 primary school students, 6418 middle school students, and 637 high school students of 12 secondary schools in Ulaanbaatar are included in the first stage.
Milk plays an important role in reducing deficiencies of essential nutrients such as essential fatty acids, vitamins A, C, D, and B12, riboflavin, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and zinc, which are necessary for students' bodies. It not only supports their health and growth but also helps eliminate harmful substances accumulated in the body due to air pollution.
