Centennial of the Establishment of the Statistics Office in Mongolia Celebrated
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, November 11, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On November 11, 2024, Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve attended the National Data Forum dedicated to the centennial of the establishment of the National Statistics Office of Mongolia.
On November 11, 1924, by Resolution No. 3 adopted by the State Great Khural of the Mongolian People's Republic at its first session, a Statistics Department with six members was established under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, marking the beginning of the statistical services in the country.
Chairman of the National Statistics Office of Mongolia Batdavaa Batmunkh emphasized that the 100-year-old Statistics Office of Mongolia has brought Mongolia’s statistical capacity and development on par with other countries, providing the country and the public with high-quality data, and ensuring continuity in evidence-based policies and decision-making.
Speaker Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve underscored, “The more scientific, evidence-based, timely, and multidimensional research is incorporated into the laws passed by the Parliament and Government, the more excellent and long-lasting laws are passed, which align with the lifestyle and needs of citizens. Mr. Amarbayasgalan highlighted that reliable statistics are as crucial as water and air in formulating long-term sustainable development plans and effective policies. Moreover, the Chairman of the State Great Khural underlined that countries around the world have begun utilizing big data and artificial intelligence in their governance and decision-making processes, therefore, Mongolia should not fall behind in this development.
Furthermore, Mr. Amarbayasgalan expressed the Parliament’s commitment to supporting the development of the statistical system as an independent, technology-based, professional, and capable apparatus, reported the Media and Public Relations Department of the State Great Khural of Mongolia.
