Ulaanbaatar, January 2, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 385th anniversary of the Capital City, the centennial of the Proclamation of the Mongolian People’s Republic and the Adoption of the First Constitution, and the centennial of the Renaming of Capital Khuree to Ulaanbaatar, a first-day issue ceremony for a commemorative stamp series was held on December 26, 2024.

This historic stamp series reflects the city’s rich history and evolution, featuring three distinct designs:

  • “Khuree Migration 1639-1778,” depicting the nomadic movement leading to the establishment of the capital;

  • “Niislel Khuree 1912-1923,” illustrating the transition to urban planning and settlement;

  • “Ulaanbaatar City 1924-2024,” picturing the development of a modern city.

Stamps are of exceptional importance, embodying a nation’s sovereignty, history, and cultural heritage. The release of this commemorative stamp series adds a valuable new chapter to history and marks a celebratory moment for stamp collectors.

In the past, the Mongol Post has issued several commemorative stamps honoring Ulaanbaatar, including stamps for the city’s 50th and 60th anniversaries in 1974 and 1984, as well as a series commemorating Khuree's 360th, 375th, and 380th anniversaries in 1999, 2014, and 2019, respectively.
