Ulaanbaatar, March 31, 2025 /MONTSAME/. On March 28, 2025, the 23rd meeting of the Senior Officials of the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) was held online, during which Mongolia was selected to co-chair the Forum for the 2025-2027 term, alongside the Dominican Republic.
Established in 1999, FEALAC aims at strengthening cooperation, mutual understanding, and fostering political and economic dialogue between East Asia and Latin America. The Forum is traditionally co-chaired by two member countries, one from East Asia and one from Latin America, to represent the regions for a two-year term.
Currently, the Forum consists of 36 member countries, 16 from East Asia and 20 from Latin America, accounting for about 40 percent of the world’s population, 35 percent of global GDP, and 33 percent of global trade turnover.
Mongolia has been actively participating in this multilateral platform since joining during the 4th FEALAC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Tokyo in 2010.
